ABSTRACT (cross-border co-operation, water reserves, French-Belgian metropolis of Lille) (Ieper, Kortrijk, Lille, Mouscron, Roeselare, Tournai)
The survey concerning the water reserves in the French-Belgian Metropolis was carried out in 4 phases. First, a brief analysis was made of the water supplies in our region, taking into account pumped water, water from precipitation, water from drainage, surface water and water from evapotranspiration. Subsequently, we harmonized the different local, regional, national or European legislations concerning water reserves. The risks to which these vital resources are subjected were listed and explained. Finally, we described the efforts made to provide a solution for the excess exploitation of the groundwater, for water pollution, for rainwater management, etc. By way of conclusion, subjects for additional examination and development strategies were suggested. |
